Deer Express Club conducted a two-day workshop on Density Function Theory and Computational Tools with the aim of developing good knowledge and skills in Material Science and Computation among the students. With a total of 34 participants, the workshop was facilitated by Dr. Rajendra Adikhari, who is a lecturer to undergrad students at Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel. On Apr 29, the workshop commenced with a welcome note by Prof. Dr. Narayan Adhikari from Central Department of Physics, Kritipur. On this day, the workshop focused mainly on Quantum Expresso which is an integrated suite of Open-Source computer codes for electronic-structure calculations and materials modeling at the Nano-scale. It is based on density function theory, plane wave, and pseudo potentials. The second day of the workshop focused on the calculation of ground state energy, structural optimization, electronic band structure and density of states. Ritu Raj Lamsal, the HOD of Electronics Department at DWIT, ended the workshop with closing remarks.
β€œIt was an informative workshop to those who attended it. Since we were very clear about the topics, it wasn't difficult in running the program smoothly. The professor, Dr. Rajendra Adhikari was very intelligent, humble and kind. Thereafter, collectively with his effort, the club was able to conduct the session perfectly. The participants were happy to be a part of the event under his mentor ship and it was overwhelming to get so many positive feedbacks.” – Akankshya Upadhyaya, President of DeerExpress Club.
This was a wonderful initiative taken by the club .The workshop proved beneficial to the participants and it ended with positive feedbacks from them.
