The Artistas organized the first ever Intra-college Sketching Competition on the Jan. 22, Sunday. There was a total of five participants for the competition. Abhishek Kadariya '19 and Shrayash Shrestha '20, members of the club, coordinated the event. All the participants arrived on time and the competition started exactly at 11 a.m. The club provided all the necessary stationary items to the participants. The theme for the competition was 'Nature.' The entries for the competition are going to be judged by Mr. Kiran Sigu, the Art teacher of Deerwalk Sifal School. The winner of the competition is going to be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1000. So, stay tuned for the next session of DeerTalk as the winner is going to be announced then. The Artistas had organized this “Sketching Competition” in order to bring out the hidden talent of art among the students. “These type of competitions not only enhances the skill of the artist but also builds creativity of the participant,” says Shrayash Shrestha. The Artistas have indeed taken a commendable initiative to encourage the students in exploring their creative side.  The event was exactly two hours long and the participants were provided refreshments after finishing their sketches.
“I couldn’t really portray the picture that I had in my head nevertheless I had fun sketching seriously after so long,” - Pallavi Ghimire ’20, a participant.
I was also one of the participants of the sketching competition and it was absolutely refreshing to have a piece of paper and create something using pencils. I honestly look forward to other such events and competitions organized by The Artistas that provide the students with a chance to explore their creative and artsy side.
